Do a quick check the day before or the morning of your move and you'll be able to account for any delay. Other quick things you can do the day before or the morning of your cross-country move are:

• Make a list of realistic non-moving related costs you will encounter along the way. Include things like food and hotel stays. You may be thinking it might be more expensive to fly but take into account small costs like this and you may decide otherwise.
  
• Call your moving company if you've hired one for any last minute questions you have. Make sure that your items are insured. Confirm the time they will be coming and make sure you feel comfortable with their services.
  
• Make certain that you have the form of payment available. Many movers or truck services don't accept credit cards or checks, so it's good to have cash or a money order available.
