Make Halloween a Family Affair: How to Turn the Holiday into Quality Family Time

As the kids get older, it will become easier for them to stray, and Halloween is no exception. When they get to be teenagers and start to trick or treat with friends, you may find yourself wishing for the days when they were younger and wanted to spend the spooky holiday with you. Take advantage of the time you have with your family while you can and make Halloween a time they'll remember.

Throw a Block Party
Spending time with the family doesn't ever have to mean your kids can't have fun with their friends as well. Did you recently move to the area? Use your recent relocation as the perfect excuse to get a block party together and meet your new neighbors! It's the ideal way for your children to connect with some of the other kids in the neighborhood. It's also a sneaky way for you to meet some for their new friends as well. A block party doesn't mean your kids can't participate in the time honored candy-eating tradition either. Make certain to have plenty of treats around and organize games for them as well. They should have an abundance of activities to keep them and their new friends busy. You'll also be able to keep an eye on them and make some new friends of your own.

Have a Family Fun Night
Create a tradition that your kids will never forget and make Halloween a night where the family has some fun together. This can mean doing anything from popping in a few scary movies or pulling out a board game. Break out the scrabble board and have a Halloween themed game where everyone has to spell out scary words. You can also do the same for games like Pictionary as well!

Good Old Fashioned Trick Or Treating
When your children are young, they'll still need you to tag along with them as they go house to house. Take advantage of that time and have the whole family come along. You could even choose to have a theme and dress up as a family!
